Holy Brigid (1303-1373) Swedish aristocrat, influential position at the court and mother of eight children. She gave up alls this after her husband’s death when she got a calling from God and started to see visions. She lived the rest of her life in Rome, where she tried to reform the depraved Catholic Church. She was a harsh critic of corruption and warfare, a peace weaver driven by holy wrath. In 1999 she was proclaimed Patron Saint of Europe by the Pope. I wonder if he ever understood the width of her revolutionary ideas.
